Biography

Bronte Barratt hit the headlines at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing when she won gold in the 4x 200m freestyle relay.
Barratt was only 19 when she competed in Beijing and broke her Australian Record in the finals of the 400m freestyle and continued her form into the finals of the 200m freestyle. But it was her stellar performance in the 4×200m freestyle relay that claimed World Record time, becoming an Olympic Champion.

Bronte qualified for her first Commonwealth Games in 2006 and reaffirmed her talent by winning gold in the 4×200m freestyle relay and bronze in the 400m freestyle. She continued her good form at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, winning gold again in the 4×200m freestyle relay. Bronte was also part of the 4×200m freestyle relay team in the 2011 FINA world championships in Shanghai, talking home silver.

At the 2007 Japan Open, Barratt broke the oldest record in Australian swimming – Tracey Wickham’s 29 year old Commonwealth and Australian record for the 400m freestyle.

With Olympic Gold and a World Record under her belt, Bronte is set accomplish big things at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
