Elizabeth Dekkers started competitive swimming at 10 years of age with the Newmarket Racers Swimming Club under the Father/Son coaching combination of Bob and Steve Miller. After leaving school, Lizzy moved to Brisbane’s High Performance centre where she trains under Vince Raleigh.

A talented athlete across many sports as a youngster, Lizzy had success at a National School Swimming level but continued to pursue other sports representing QLD in water polo. At the age of 12, Lizzy started to swim the gruelling 200m Butterfly and throughout her Australian National Age Group career, she was never beaten in this event. Lizzy chose to pursue swimming full-time at the age of 14 and was rewarded with a selection on the Junior Australia Team. As the youngest member of this team, she travelled to Budapest for the Junior World Championships where she placed 5th in the 200 Butterfly.

has moved successfully into the Senior Ranks primarily representing Australia at the 2022 World Championships and later that year, went on to win a Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Games. In 2023, Lizzy won a Silver Medal at the World Championships and now all eyes are on Paris where she hopes to make the Team and go on to win a medal which she is more than capable of achieving.
